Lake Shrine Updates
Our SRF Mother Center has given a directive to temporarily close to the public, all ashram Centers in Southern California. This includes Mother Center, Hollywood, Lake Shrine and Encinitas. For Lake Shrine this includes, the temple, the meditation gardens and the retreat. This closure goes into effect Wednesday, March 18 and will remain until current public health challenges abate and conditions are considered safe for all guests, volunteers and employees.
Houseboat Saturday Morning Meditations
Dear Guests, due to the coronavirus Saturday morning houseboat meditations have been canceled until further notice.
The Shoreline Project
The natural banks around the lake have eroded and become unstable in many places. A project to restore the integrity of the shoreline using reinforced granite stone is in progress. A portion of the site beneath the Lotus Towers will become a staging area, while the work itself will take place from a custom barge floating on the lake. The circular path around the lake will remain open to visitors, but the work may at times disrupt the tranquility of the environment. The long-term benefit will be preservation of the shoreline and the lakeside meditation gardens we all love. Thank you for your patience and your generous monetary support.
New Landing
The construction of the new landing is finished. The landing ties in nicely with the materials used on the Windmill Chapel. Sandstone rock encases the pillars and deck. A red brick veneer covers the floor and stair case with wrought iron railings surrounding the landing and stair case…quite grand!
The saints stress non-attachment so that one strong point of material attachment may not prevent our attaining the entire kingdom of God. Renunciation does not mean giving up everything; it means giving up small pleasures for eternal bliss.
